JOB DESCRIPTION FOR ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

Reports To: Engineering Manager

Level of Supervision: Direct

Position Purpose: Product Manufacture, Field Service, and Engineering Support

Position Status: Full time regular, days

Essential Production Duties:

1. Fabricating various furnace parts using hand and power tools (daily).
2. Assembling parts using hand tools (daily).
3. Checking cabinet wiring (weekly).
4. Performing product testing as directed (weekly).
5. Performing setup procedures for programmable temperature controllers and other electrical and electronic components (weekly).

Essential Field Service Duties:

1. Driving company vehicle to customer and vendor sites to pick up and deliver parts and materials (weekly to monthly).
2. Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing furnaces, control cabinets, control systems, and related parts and systems on customer's site (several times per year). Often requires air travel and/or driving company vehicle or rental vehicle to customer's site (12 or more times per year).

Essential Engineering Support Duties:

1. Assisting in the selection, evaluation, and purchasing of components. This includes interacting with vendors to locate appropriate components and recommending products for evaluation to the Engineering Manager (weekly-monthly).
2. Providing customer tech support by phone, fax, email (daily).
3. Preparing customer instruction manuals (weekly-monthly).
4. Locating, printing, and interpreting cad drawings for the Production Technicians (daily).
5. Completing special information and data collection projects, for example for job costing (occasionally).
6. Assisting in the preparation, maintenance, and administration of Deltech's safety and quality control policies, procedures, and training programs (ongoing).

Job Qualifications:

1. Two-year technical degree or the equivalent in training and experience;
2. The skilled use of hand and power tools;
3. The ability to lift up to 75 pounds on a daily basis;
4. A valid Colorado driver's license;
5. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
