Deltech Furnaces supports PACC-FMA
Deltech is pleased to be providing some student travel support to the upcoming Pan American Ceramics Congress and Ferroelectrics Meeting of the Americas. This joint event between the American Ceramic Society and FMAs will take place in Panama City, Panama July 24th through 28th. There is also a virtual participation option that will include a unique feature: pre-recorded talks from virtual attendees will be incorporated into the on-site programming.
The American Ceramic Society (ACerS) comments that “the Pan American Ceramics Congress brings together a wide variety of experts from academia, industries, research institutes and laboratories to discuss current state of the art and various technical challenges in research, development, engineering, manufacturing, and application of ceramic and glass materials.”
Ferroelectrics is an emerging field. Ferroelectric materials have been used for capacitor applications, in thin films, in medical imaging, and data storage and display applications.
Since 1998, Deltech Furnaces has made contributing to education one of our corporate missions. Our very first effort was the establishment of a scholarship at Montana Technical University in honor of our late founder, Calvin L. Stevenson, who had been named a Distinguished Alumnus by Montana Tech. That scholarship is on its way to becoming an endowment for the Metallurgy and Materials Department.
We have donated furnace systems to several universities (including most recently, Montana Tech). Our single stipulation is that furnaces be used not only in student teaching but to give students hands on experience with how furnaces are used in materials processing. In addition, we have contributed funds to student organized congresses and to student travel to professional congresses. While most of our efforts have focused on students in materials science and ceramic engineering, we have also provided support to the petrology community.
