Deltech Furnaces was once again a sponsor of the Adams County Colorado Education Consortium’s Career Expo event. In attendance for the 8th year, Deltech was one of the companies who presented career opportunities and pathways to 8th grade students from area schools.

Deltech’s Senior Mechanical Drafter, Perla Del Rio, has been our representative at the event for the 8th year, too. She commented that the students asked excellent questions this year. One student commented that it is “cool” that a small company like Deltech has big-company customers like Coors Tech and 3M.  Another asked about the availability of internships.

The event, held this year at the National Western Complex, draws 5000-6000 students. They have the opportunity to learn about various careers in a wide range of industries including health and veterinary science and medicine, agriculture, construction, welding, crime scene investigation, firefighting, law enforcement, engineering, and video production, to name just a few. Deltech Furnaces introduces them to careers in manufacturing, mechanical drafting, and engineering, including electrical and mechanical.

A number of area schools attend as well representing high school technical education centers, community colleges, and universities. Their representatives help students to understand how to get the necessary training and experience for various career choices. Trade unions introduce students to available apprenticeship programs.

According to the Adams County Education Consortium, “…career exposure helps with goal setting and transitioning to high school and helps prevent (the) disengagement in education that is often prevalent at the transition from middle to high school.”

Deltech Furnaces currently employs a graduate of the nearby Bollman Technical College, a part of Adams County District 12 schools, as a Production Technician. He worked for the company for two summers prior to joining us full time after graduating from high school.
