Controlled atmosphere furnaces…tubes and more
First, about those tube models…
Horizontal and vertical tube furnaces are great if you need only a relatively small work space. If you are operating at high temperatures and need to use an alumina process tube, it’s best to limit the tube outer diameter to 4″ (100mm) and the heated zone length to 36″ (915mm).
And now for the more…
If you need more space, front load, bottom load, and top hat furnaces can be built as sealed “atmosphere envelopes” for use at pressures up to .022 atmosphere. Designed for use in inert gases, they feature sealed electrode glands, gas through ports, and silicone closed seal cells, making the furnace gas tight. A vacuum purge can be completed prior to the introduction of the process gas, or the room air can be removed by starting the gas flow. These furnaces are available in most any size from lab scale to production, and with furnace operating temperatures up to 1800°C. Atmosphere envelopes are also suitable for processing in up to 5% hydrogen mixtures, but with considerable loss of temperature capability. Reducing gases strongly attack molydisilicide heating elements.
Need custom features? You’ve come to the right place…
Deltech is known for supplying custom features and designs, and this applies to our controlled atmosphere furnaces as well. Among the variations in tube furnace designs that have come about from customer requirements: convertible vertical/horizontal tube unit, convertible tube/bottom load units, and bottom loading vertical tube furnaces. And of course this applies to our atmosphere envelope furnaces! The unit pictured has a slide gate to allow product feed while the furnace is under atmosphere and at temperature.
We’ve been at this a long time and we’re good at it….
We’ve been designing and manufacturing controlled atmosphere furnaces since the early 1970s, always using the latest and best materials and heating elements plus the newest and greatest of controls technology. And as well as ensuring that every unit meets the customer’s application requirements.
